Run, run, run and RUN SOME MORE

Let's talk about training for the Run Now Relay for a moment.  Well first let me say, I still can't believe that I "train" for anything.  I feel funny saying I am training for a run. I sound like one of those obnoxious athletic people who work out all the time.  But, the truth is right now I am that person. I have been running pretty much every day.  EVERYDAY.  For the most part my runs are short, 4-6 miles.  I am trying to get to used to running back to back days.  In four short weeks I will be running 6 miles a day for seven days in a row. And, I'm going to be honest, running everyday isn't my jam.  Not even a little bit.  I usually run 3-4 days a week.  Trying to find the time and energy to run everyday is exhausting.   Also, I have gained 8 pounds since I started training!? Which is sort of crazy.  I like to tell myself that it is muscle but in truth it might be all the food I am eating.  Running makes me hungry.  There have been lots of days I don't even feel like putting on my running shoes.  The only thing that is keeping me going is the charities that I am fundraising for.  I think about those kids who lost limbs in the bombing and I find motivation.  I also think about all those underprivileged girls who are encouraged and inspired by Dream Big and I think, I got this.  This is a crazy experience (and I haven't even been on the run yet).  I feel like I am learning so much about myself.  I have never had to push myself this hard.  This makes training for a half marathon seem easy.  Running six miles on tired legs is much harder that 13 on well rested ones.   I just hope I can keep up the pace and keep building my endurance.

I've also ran in all kinds of weather! Cold, snow and rain?! My style in the past was to skip running if the weather was bad. But, I can't skip my run during the relay so I've been running in all kinds of weather (but I'm hoping for sunshine for our run to Boston).

While I am training, I am listening to A LOT OF MUSIC.  Like, a whole lot.  I have a running play list on Spotify, which Jason named (ahem).  I like a variety when I run, as you can see.  I need to beef up my list, so do you have any suggestions?  I don't always run to fast songs, I like to mix it up. Recommendations appreciated.

Now, I am off to run. Again. If you live in Cleveland and run into me in the next couple of weeks I will probably be in running clothes. Just hope you catch me before a run because after a run, I stink! Boston or BUST! Click HERE to find out more about the RUN NOW RELAY and make sure to follow along with us on Facebook!  Also if you'd like to donate to towards my fundraising goal you can do so at Runnowrelay.org (put my name in the comments).  All money raised goes directly to our partner charities, runner have to cover their own expenses.  I actually paid to do this!?!  Thus confirming I am crazy.
