Beautiful Baby Bump

Hello second trimester!

Yes, this week marks the start of my second trimester in pregnancy. For those of you who know nothing about pregnancy, (this was once me) this means I am 1/3 of way through. According to all the books, the second trimester is supposed to be easier than the first. While I still don't feel "normal"  I can tell a difference. I am starting to feel less nauseated and I have a bit more energy. There for a while I spent entire days feeling sick and I was going to bed at 7pm.

In addition to feeling better, I have the beginnings of a tiny baby bump. It is tiny, but it is there. It is really exciting. Actually, a week or so go, my bump made Jason cry. I was cropping an onion and I looked up to see Jason standing in to door to the kitchen with tears in his eyes. When I asking him what was wrong he just smiled and said "I can see our baby." Sometimes I still find myself in complete awe of the fact that we are going to bring a person into this world. We often lay in bed at night talking about the baby and what kind of changes it is going to bring into our life. While we are terrified, we are quite excited.

One of the primary things that we are worried about is cash. Do you guys have any idea how much money is needed to bring a baby into the developed world? What in the world possessed me to get pregnant! All the lists you guys have sent me have been wonderful and have sent me into a total panic. So far we have only bought one baby item. Do you know what it is? Baby bedding. Yes, bedding. I found it on clearance at WalMart.com (yes, walmart). I fell in love with the pattern and the price so snatched it up. I keep looking at it thinking there are a 100 more practical items that I should have bought. Ahhhh! Am I the only future parent to freak out about all the needed baby items? Yes, I am sure I will have a baby shower or two but still there is a lot of crap that we need. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to all the women who showers I have attended. I always brought cute and totally impractical gifts to showers. Forgive me for my ignorance. Sigh. I think I feel better getting my worries and that apology off my chest.

For now I am going to focus on the positives like the fact that on Thursday we get to hear our little ones heart beat. I hope he or she is nice and cozy in my expanding womb. Junior only has 6 more months before he or she gets evicted.

I think you and Jason will do just fine, and if you need some help (I can spot you a $20), just let a brother know.

Cost is the number one reason I couldn't go having a child...well, besides being single...okay, so cost is the number two reason...not the cost to me, necessarily...but the fear that my kid would have to wear clothes made out of corn husks* because I am broke enough without one.

*My grandmother had to wear clothes like this, if I remember correctly...but then again, that was during the Great Depression.

All of your fears and worries about money are all normal but trust me when I say it will all work out. Your baby will have everything it needs. Don't worry I will get you practical things! LOL!

Speaking of the great depression . . . Do you realize that we are in the worst economic crisis of our life time? we picked a terrible time to have kid : )

Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement. We are slowly starting to feel a bit better.
